EBI is also among the leading brewers in the other markets it operates. EBI is the second largest brewer in Kazakhstan where its production capacity increased from 1,0 million hectoliters to 1.3 million hectoliters in 2006.

EBI’s brand portfolio in Kazakhstan currently includes “Efes”, “Warsteiner” and “Bavaria Premium” as super premium brands, “Stary Melnik”, “Sokol” and “Beliy Medved” as local premium brands and “Karagandinskoe” as a mid-priced local brand. In 2006 EBI’s sales volume in Kazakhstan increased 17% over previous year and reached 0.9 million hectoliters.

In Moldova, where EBI entered in 2003, EBI is the market leader and has 0.9 million hectoliters of annual production capacity. Efes Moldova currently produces and sells “Chisinau” as a mainstream local brand, “Vitanta”, “Vitanta Extra” and “Sokol” as local premium brands, and “Efes”, “Stary Melnik” and “Warsteiner” as imported premium brands.

EBI has sold the soft drinks brands “Viva” and “Real” which were part of the brewery’s assets in Moldova at the time of the acquisition in 2003, to The Coca- Cola Company in the beginning of 2007.

In Moldova, the total sales volume has reached 1.2 million hectoliters, realizing a 12% growth in 2006. On the other hand, beer only sales volume growth has been 17%.

With its two breweries (Pancevo and Zajecar) and 1.4 million hectoliters of total annual brewing capacity, EBI is the 4th largest brewer in Serbia. Efes Serbia sells “Efes” and “Miller Genuine Draft” in the premium segment, where the latter is being imported, “Weifert” in the mainstream segment and “Pils Plus”, “Standard” and “Zajecarsko” in the economy segment. In order to effectively capitalize on the future potential of the Serbian beer market, EBI focuses on the continuous development of brands and infrastructure of its operations which, in 2006, included an average price increase that resulted in 10% contraction of sales volume.

EBI has transferred its share in Interbrew Efes Brewery (Efes Romania) in Romania, which was a 50%-50% joint venture with InBev S.A. (InBev) since 2000, to InBev in August 2006. In 2006, Efes Romania’s share in EBI’s total sales volume was approximately 5%.
